About

Sixty years
in the field.

Canadian Cutting and Coring has been part of the construction trade in Ontario since 1964. Three generations of crews, the same standard.

Founded 1964

How it started.

Canadian Cutting and Coring was founded in 1964 by Ron Charette, who saw something most of the trade hadn't yet recognized: diamond cutting and drilling were going to change the way concrete work was done.

It started small. A couple of trucks. A crew that could be counted on one hand. A handful of contractors willing to try a new way of cutting concrete cleanly, accurately, and without breaking what surrounded it.

Building the trade.

Through the seventies, diamond cutting went from a specialty service to a standard part of how concrete projects came together. The company grew alongside it, taking on bigger work across Ontario.

Floors, slabs, foundations, bridge decks, plant retrofits. Every job was a chance to refine what we knew about cutting concrete in the field.

Coming up through the company.

Pat O'Neill joined Canadian Cutting and Coring in 1971 and became Ron Charette's right-hand man, working alongside the founder for decades and learning the trade the same way every great operator does: on site, with a saw in hand, in the conditions where the work actually happens.

More than fifty years later, Pat serves as CEO. The fleet has grown. The equipment has evolved. Wire saws, larger core rigs, electric breakers, and the imaging tools that became CORESCAN. The standard Ron set in 1964 has carried forward, in the hands of the people who learned it from him.

Today

Sixty years on.

It's always been about the people.

For 60 years, it's been our crew showing up, putting in the work, and getting it done right. Across Ontario, we've built a team that takes pride in what they do, whether it's a straightforward job or a high-risk environment where there's no room for error.

We use modern cutting and coring equipment, paired with GPR scanning and digital concrete X-ray. But tools don't do the job, people do.

The work has changed. The standard hasn't. We still do it properly the first time, and we stand behind it.

Mike Charette, President, Canadian Cutting and Coring

Canadian Cutting & Coring was built on a simple idea: do the work properly and stand behind it.

My father started this company in 1964 after recognizing the potential of diamond cutting and drilling. What began with a small crew and a couple of trucks has grown into a company operating across Ontario, but the standard he set has never changed.

Today, our focus remains the same. We invest in our people, our equipment, and how we approach each job. Planning, safety, and execution matter. Much of our work takes place in environments where there is no room for error, and that responsibility is taken seriously at every level of the company.

I’ve been with Canadian Cutting & Coring for over 45 years and remain closely involved in day-to-day operations. Building a strong team continues to be a priority, because the quality of the work comes down to the people behind it.

Our reputation has been built over decades by doing the job right the first time. That’s something we intend to carry forward.

What we stand for

The standard
never changed.

Experience

Sixty years of field experience. Most of our operators have been on the saw for over a decade.

Judgement

Cutting concrete in live environments rewards control and patience. Our crews bring both.

Safety

Every job is planned, scanned, and executed against the conditions of the site. No guesswork.

Standards

We do the work properly the first time and stand behind it. The same standard set in 1964.
